Quick Definition
UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) is the centralised application system for UK undergraduate programs. Through one UCAS application, students can apply to up to 5 universities. The personal statement (4,000 characters) is the most critical component. Main deadline: 31 January for most courses; 15 October for Oxford, Cambridge, and medicine.
UCAS Application (UK Undergraduate) — Full Explanation
International students apply through UCAS identically to domestic UK students. Each university responds with a conditional or unconditional offer. After receiving all responses, you select your Firm and Insurance choices by the May deadline. The UCAS tariff converts qualifications (IB, A-Levels, BTEC) to points for entry requirements comparison. Medicine (MBBS) applications require additional admissions tests (BMAT, UCAT) and interviews.
