Common Questions

SAT Preparation — FAQs

Answers to the most frequently asked questions about sat preparation.

Most Ivy League universities (Harvard, Yale, Princeton) have middle 50% SAT ranges of 1490–1580. A score of 1500+ is generally competitive. Some Ivies are test-optional but submitting a strong SAT score strengthens your application. EduVed targets 1450+ for top US university applicants.
The Digital SAT (dSAT), mandatory since 2024, is shorter (2 hours 14 min vs 3 hours), adaptive (two-module format), and taken on a computer or tablet. The score range remains 400–1600. Calculators are allowed throughout Math. The Reading & Writing section combines into one section with shorter passages.
Not all. Many US universities went test-optional during COVID and some have maintained optional policies. However, selective universities like MIT, Georgia Tech, and Yale recently reinstated SAT requirements. EduVed checks each university's current test policy as it is updated frequently.
Many US universities accept SAT superscoring, where they take your highest Math score from one sitting and highest Reading & Writing from another sitting to calculate a composite. This means taking the SAT multiple times to optimise your superscore is a legitimate strategy. EduVed advises on this approach.
The Digital SAT has two modules for each section. Module 1 is standard difficulty. Your performance in Module 1 determines if Module 2 is harder (higher maximum score) or easier (lower maximum score). Performing well in Module 1 is critical — EduVed teaches strategies to maximise Module 1 performance.
Yes. The Digital SAT is available at authorised College Board test centres across India (major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune). International test dates for India are separate from US dates. EduVed helps with registration and choosing the optimal test date.
The SAT test fee for international students in India is $60 (approximately ₹5,000–6,000). Subject Tests have been discontinued. The PSAT is not available internationally. EduVed helps with registration at authorised College Board test centres in India.
There is no official limit on how many times you can take the SAT. Most colleges see all scores unless they use Score Choice. Taking the SAT 2–3 times is common, especially to maximise superscoring opportunities. EduVed recommends thorough preparation before each sitting.
